Situated at the north-eastern region of India, Tripura is a small hilly state that offers immense natural beauty and a captivating cultural heritage of music, fine arts, handicrafts and dance. Tripura is bounded on the north, west, south and south-east by Bangladesh whereas in the east it has a common boundary with Assam and Mizoram. The economy is mainly an agricultural one but Tripura is slowly making her way into the field of industrial development.

Due to the tropical climatic conditions, the state is usually hot between March and May while the temperatures drop by October. During the Monsoons the region gets an average rainfall of about 230cm/annum. This hot and wet climate provides Tripura with a bounty of lush expanses and a diverse array of flora and fauna that has been a treat of the eye.
The picturesque beauty of this former princely state had amazed India’s most illustrious bard Rabindranath Tagore so much that he penned the words
“… the wood-land of Tripura have sent out invitation to their floral feast through their courier of the south wind and I have come here as a friend.”

Tagore was right; No one can come to Tripura except as a friend and leave otherwise.
