GENET run Tripura Medical College and Dr B.R Ambedkar Memorial Teaching Hospital has a permanent solution for people suffering from High and protruding jawbone structure leading to exposed teeth causing facial deformity,by performing yet another rare surgery. A six hours long surgery was performed on a 20 year old unmarried female patient by the able doctors of the department of Dental & Maxillo-facial Surgery . In medical terms this operation is called “Bi-maxillary Orthognathic Surgery” and it has been performed for the first time in Tripura. The main complaint of the 20 year old patient was the highly protruded bones of her anterior jaw for which she was unable to close her upper and lower lips together thus always exposing her anterior teeth. Such type of patients gradually start developing an inferiority complex, becoming introvert and both socially and aesthetically insecure. In this operation , the grossly protruded patient’s upper and lower jaw has been operated upon and pushed back inside and impacted with the help of mini-bone plating system. The complete operation has been performed through the patients oral cavity thus leaving no post operative scars on the face of the patient. The operation was performed by a team of doctors comprising Dr Srijon Mukherjee and Dr Manik Saha and they were assisted by Dr Rudraprasad Chakraborty. The team of Anaesthetists comprised Dr Hrishikesh Choudhury and Dr Paromita Das . Overall incharge was Dr Jayashree Sen. The cost for performing the operation was also much economic in comparison to those performed outside of the state. The patient is delighted to visualize her changed and aesthetically much improved facial structure post operation and is slowly regaining her self confidence. |
